Tokyo, December 26 (EFECOM). – Japan’s unemployment rate remained at 2.6% for the fourth consecutive month in November, the Japanese executive branch reported this Friday.
The number of unemployed people in Japan reached 1.71 million in the 11th month of the year, an increase of 70,000 people compared to the same month last year. This is according to data published by the Ministry of Interior and Communications, which shows that this is the fourth month with an increase in this number.
The number of people with jobs in the Asian country reached 68.62 million in October, an increase of 480,000 year-on-year, marking the fortieth month with an increase in this number, the ministry highlighted.
The number of available jobs per 100 job seekers in Japan was 118, unchanged from the previous month, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said in a separate report.
According to Health, new job openings were reduced in all industries, but especially in the entertainment industry (19.9% less than in the same month last year), in sales (17.2% less) and in the catering industry (14.1% less).
The data highlights the continued rigidity of Japan’s labor market and poses a barrier to growth in the world’s fourth-largest economy, which is in an accelerated process of demographic aging and where more companies are struggling with labor shortages.EFECOM
