The 29th Tiradentes Film Festival, which opens the Brazilian audiovisual calendar, will pay tribute in 2026 to Rio de Janeiro actress Karine Telles, 47 years old.
The event will take place from January 23 to 31, in the historic city of Minas Gerais, and will have the theme “Imaginative Sovereignty.”
A recurring name in Brazilian cinema since “Riscado”, Telles gained international recognition by playing the madam in “Que Horas Ela Volta?”. On her CV she also includes appearances in films such as “Bacurau” and “A Vilã das Nove”, as well as work in Globo soap operas, such as “Pantanal” and, more recently, the role of Aldeíde in “Vale Tudo”.
The choice of the actress as winner is directly linked to the theme of the edition, according to the organizers. The exhibition proposes to reflect on the idea of sovereignty not only as political or economic independence, but as an expression of a collective and creative will, highlighting the works, artists and collectives that have expanded this concept in the aesthetic field of Brazilian cinema.
