A serious accident that occurred in the last few hours in the town of Abasto led to the death of a woman and once again brought into discussion the enormous problem of insecurity on the roads in the region.
The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Streets 523 and 211, when two motorcycles collided head-on, for reasons that are still under investigation.
According to police sources, the victim, a 33-year-old woman, suffered severe shocks and died before being taken to the hospital.
Forces from the Western Subcommand and the Seventh Division intervened and preserved the site until the scientific police arrived.
The intervening prosecutor’s office classified the case as “unlawful killing” and ordered mechanical tests, alcohol tests and an analysis of the condition of the motorcycles involved: the Gilera Smash (which the fatal victim was driving) and the Honda Titan 150.
This incident joins other serious road accidents in the region, in which the combination of speed, poor signage and light vehicles can lead to fatal results.
