Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with several of his European allies this Friday (December 26, 2025) the necessary diplomatic efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, after announcing that he would travel to the United States this weekend to meet with US President Donald Trump.
In his social networks, Zelensky reported telephone conversations with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz; with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen; with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal; and with the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb.
He also spoke this Friday with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
“Much can be achieved in the coming days both bilaterally between Ukraine and the United States and with our partners in the Willing Coalition,” the president said, adding: “Right now it is Russia that is stalling and trying to waste time in negotiations.”
“Ukraine has never been and will never be an obstacle to peace and we will continue to work efficiently to ensure that all necessary documents are prepared as quickly as possible,” he said, referring to the 20-point peace proposal that Kiev and Washington are developing together.
In his publications, Zelensky emphasized the importance of coordinating positions and acting together with European states with a view to a possible peace process.
This Friday, the Ukrainian president announced that he plans to travel to Florida next Sunday, December 28, to meet with Trump and discuss the draft peace plan that Zelensky released this week, as well as the bilateral security guarantees that Washington could offer and an economic agreement.
