A snowstorm paralyzed some operations to and from the US airport; learn more
THE Guarulhos International Airport is already suffering the consequences of the imminence Snowstorm expected to hit parts of the United States in the coming hours, between this Friday 26 and Saturday 27, with cancellations and postponements of flights connecting São Paulo to New York. In total, the blizzard generated more than 1,500 cancellations across the country.
At São Paulo airport, at least two flights this evening and early morning to New York have had their cancellations confirmed by the companies. Likewise, travel from the North American city is also impacted, with record postponements until Saturday.
One of the cancellations is the flight 8180of Latamwhich would leave São Paulo at 10:50 p.m. this Friday. The match was rescheduled for 12:55 a.m. Saturday, but was ultimately canceled. The operation would be carried out in collaboration with three international companies (Delta Airlines, Japan Airlines and Copa Airlines). The Saturday schedule is normal.
Latam also canceled the flight 8181from New York to Guarulhos, at 7:25 p.m. Saturday. This Friday’s trip in this direction started normally.

Another cancellation confirmed in Guarulhos is that of flight 0226of Delta Airlinesscheduled for 9 p.m. The trip was operated jointly with Latam and Korean Air. The report was unable to contact the company.
American Airlines Flight 0950 remains confirmed for now, taking off at 11 p.m. Likewise, to this day, the next trips departing from Galeão International Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, remain officially scheduled.
On the other hand, trips to Guarulhos of the different companies departing from New York are postponed. The joint flight of American Airlines, Gol, Alaska Airlines, Japan Airlines and Cathay Pacific Airways which was scheduled to take off at 6:25 p.m. this Friday was postponed to 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Blizzard puts New York on alert
The arrival of heavy snowfall in the Northeast and Midwest has put the United States on alert in cities like New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The snowstorm is expected to peak in the early hours of Friday and Saturday.
The situation is affecting flights from different parts of the country – with at least 1,490 canceled and 5,900 delayed as of 5 p.m. this Friday (local time). The most affected airports are New York and Chicago, according to the FlightAware website.
In the midst of the Christmas and New Year period, New York was bracing for up to 10 inches of snow overnight, with temperatures below freezing and cold that could last through the weekend.
