THE National newspaper made a blunder during the edition of this Friday the 26th. The error occurred during the broadcast of a report on the intense heat wave which is hitting eight states of Brazil, but the press team made a mistake and used the wrong acronym for the state of Paraná.
The map showed part of the map of Brazil, with a red spot below the States of Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina. All identified by acronyms.
However, in the case of Paraná there was an error. Instead of the acronym PR, which would be correct, the National newspaper displayed the map with the acronym PA, used to abbreviate the name of Pará, which is in the north of the country.
The error did not go unnoticed and sparked comments from Internet users. “I think someone needs to take some geography lessons. Wouldn’t it be Paraná (PR) instead of Pará (PA)?” commented a user of X, the former Twitter. “I didn’t know Pará (PA) was in the south,” joked another.
Heatwave poses health risks to millions of Brazilians
More than 1,200 cities in eight states are on high alert due to heat until next Monday.
