Patricia Bullrich, Head of the Bank La Libertad Avanza in the senatewas the last speaker in the special session of the House of Lords this Friday, December 26, and assured that the approved project of The 2026 budget “expresses the economic direction that Argentine society voted for with the election of President (Javier) Milei.”
““This budget is not just an economic tool, it is a starting point to re-establish Argentina’s emotional history,” Bullrich said, adding: “For many years the country has become accustomed to suffering, to resigning itself, to living completely trapped in toxic cycles that repeat themselves over and over again and make us believe that Argentina has no way out, that there is no solution, that failure is fate. The idea arose that the effort was not worth it: populism, corruption, suitcases called “public works”.to work, to produce, to save, that it was all absolutely useless.”
“Two years ago, after going through a terrible government, We Argentines have decided to change the system and face the problems. We knew that these would be difficult times, that we would all have to make great efforts to think about a different Argentina. Suddenly we Argentines began to believe again, to project, to heal, to feel that there is a future, that the effort makes sense.”
Authoritarians don’t like that
The practice of professional and critical journalism is a mainstay of democracy. That is why it bothers those who believe that they are the owners of the truth.
In his opinion, “Change is no longer a slogan, no longer an empty word, but something that touches every Argentine in his real life, in the Argentine family.” That is why we are defending the first budget that can be approved by Congress as Argentina’s fundamental law. A budget that sets a clear, concrete economic course that provides direction“.
The Senate has approved all chapters of the 2026 budget and the government is breathing a sigh of relief
The senator stated: “Living under inflation that destroys capital and lives is not the same as living without inflation.; Living with a surplus is not the same as living with a perpetual deficit that merely devours Argentines’ money; It is not the same as living oppressed by a state whose logic was to reproduce itself in order to have more and more state, less privacy and less and less work.”
Bullrich explained: “This is a budget that neither improvises nor deceives.. It promises nothing that cannot be fulfilled. He doesn’t lie to people. It is a budget that supports a central, fundamental choice, namely to live within the concrete possibilities of Argentina and not to invent numbers from which to invent positions and the state. This budget is not an arrival point. It is a point of no return because after so long, Argentina has stopped giving up and started moving forward again. We will not give up on this path.”
Vital support from Dialogists and Peronists
The general vote was accepted 46 yes votes, 25 no votes and one abstention. In addition to the senators of La Libertad Avanza, the PRO blocs, the Radical Civic Union, the group of Peronists that make up the Convicción Federal and independent or responsive legislators to various governors, this initiative was accompanied.

The Justicialista bloc led by José Mayans rejected the text, which received half approval in the Chamber of Deputies last week. During the session there were several moments in which the Mayas crossed paths with Bullrich, but the ruling party limited itself to putting into perspective the criticism it had received, given the overwhelming number of votes already obtained, and allowing it to end the legislative year in a relaxed manner.
