Indonesian rescue teams are searching this Saturday for four Spaniards, two adults and two children, who went missing on Friday after a boat sank near the island of Padar, east of the tourist resort of Bali.
Indonesian emergency services SAR explained in a statement that the missing people (a couple and their two children) came from Spain, as did two other people already rescued, as well as four crew members and a tourist guide.
The tourist boat, named KM Putri Sakinah, sank in the waters of Padar around 8:30 p.m. Friday (1:30 p.m. GMT) after suffering an engine failure, according to the preliminary report.
Rescuers began the search Friday evening and they continue this Saturday with the deployment of boats and diving equipment.
Maritime accidents are common in Indonesia due to poor infrastructure, overloading of passengers and cargo, lack of compliance with safety regulations and bad weather.
The ship is one of the main means of transport in the Indonesian archipelago, which consists of more than 17,000 islands and has a population of more than 270 million people.
