
The Community of Madrid has installed three new bus shelters heated to Braojos de la Sierra, Gargantilla del Lozoya and Guadalix de la Sierrafor the 8,000 inhabitants of these three municipalities and reinforcing its commitment to improving the quality of travel in the rural areas of the region.
The Minister of Presidency, Justice and Local Administration of the Community of Madrid, Miguel Ángel García Martín, visited the town of Braojeña on Saturday to learn more about this innovative solution in Madrid’s public transportwhich adds to the pilot experience last year when the first heated canopy was installed in Pedrezuela.
The system consists of the installation of metal benches heated with thermostat and timer, which regulate the temperature and adapt their operation to the service times of the bus lines.
The new awnings, located in the municipalities of the Madrid mountains, have a permanent electrical connection and all the necessary protections to guarantee the safety of passengers. Additionally, they are made with 100% recyclable materials and integrate environmentally friendly energy solutions.
The Regional Executive, through the Regional Transport Consortium (CRTM), continues to evaluate the performance of these devices innovative, accessible and very effective, with the aim of expanding its use to more locations in the region.
With this initiative, the Community of Madrid reaffirms its commitment to improving public transport and the quality of life of citizens, particularly in rural and mountain areas, where climatic conditions make this alternative particularly interesting.
