The former director of the Federal Highway Police (PRF), Silvinei Vasques, will share a cell with Anderson Torres. He, who landed in Brasilia (DF) this Saturday (27/12) aboard a Federal Police flight, was taken to the 19th Military Police Battalion of the Federal District (19th BPM), Papudinha, to serve his sentence, the same place where the former Minister of Justice of the government of Jair Bolsonaro is imprisoned.
The column To Mira found that Silvinei had entered the battalion around 4:30 p.m. He arrived there with just a small suitcase.
Anderson Torres has been detained at the 19th BPM since November 25. The Military Police Guard Center (NCPM) is at the exclusive service of Prime Ministers and authorities with staff prerogatives.
Silvinei was sentenced to more than 24 years in prison for attempted coup d’état and was arrested in Paraguay, Friday 26/12, while trying to flee to El Salvador.
As of Friday, Silvinei had no outstanding arrest warrants, although he had been previously convicted. He was awaiting the outcome of his STF conviction for attempted coup d’état.
Although he was free, the former PRF director could not leave the country and was monitored by an electronic ankle bracelet. Following an escape attempt, the Minister of the Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, ordered Silvinei’s preventive detention. His arrival in Papudinha was recorded on video by Metropolises.

Escape attempt
- Silvinei respected precautionary measures in Santa Catarina, including the use of an electronic ankle bracelet and a ban on leaving the country.
- Following the violation of surveillance equipment, alerts were issued to Brazilian and international authorities.
- Silvinei, in Paraguay, attempted to embark with false documents to Panama, with El Salvador as his final destination.
- However, the attempt was already being monitored and the PF detachment in Paraguay had previously notified the local police.
Silvinei was arrested in the early hours of Friday (26/12), at the Silvio Pettirossi International Airport, in Asunción, while trying to board a plane that would pass through Panama and have El Salvador as its final destination.
According to the investigation, Silvinei was arrested while trying to board with a false passport, posing as a Paraguayan citizen, under the name Julio Eduardo Fernández. The arrest was made by local officers. The false documents were intended to circumvent immigration controls.

Transfer to Brazil
After his arrest by Paraguayan police, Silvinei was handed over to Brazilian authorities in Foz do Iguaçu (PR) on Friday evening. He was taken by car from Ciudad del Este to the border.
Silvinei’s return to Brazil was carried out in accordance with the summary expulsion of the Brazilian, after negotiation between the diplomatic authorities of the two countries. Detained by the authorities of his native country, Silvinei spent the night in Foz do Iguaçu (PR).
The former director of the PRF took off from Foz do Iguaçu (PR) around 10 a.m. and arrived in the federal capital around 1:15 p.m. He was then transferred to the 19th Battalion of the Federal District Military Police (19th BPM), Papudinha, to carry out the preventive detention ordered by Moraes.
Charge
As the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) explained in a complaint filed with the Court, Silvinei Vasques was part of Core 2 of the putsch plot and allegedly coordinated actions that would support the coup plan. He was preventively arrested on August 9, 2023, but was released on August 8 on the orders of STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
The investigation into the coup plot showed that Silvinei coordinated the establishment of roadblocks on election day 2022, the aim of which was to make voting difficult in electoral districts where the candidate at the time, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), would be favored by the electorate. The action was described as a crime of embezzlement and political violence.
