In the last broadcast of his cycle Mirtha’s night (The Thirteen), Mirtha Legrand surprised Alejandro Fantino with an apology.
At the beginning of the cycle, before introducing her guests of the day, the diva took a minute to apologize, on behalf of herself and the production of the show, to the journalist and presenter for an event that took place on her show seven years ago.
In March 2018, the late media journalist Natacha Jaitt (1977-2019) took part in the program “La Chiqui” and made strong statements about various public figures, linking them – without evidence – to a case of abuse and corruption of minors.
Fantino admitted at the time that he felt “deep disappointment” in Mirtha Legrand. And then she decided to take legal action against her and Nacho Viale, grandson of the diva and producer of the cycle, since they held her responsible for the events on the air for not taking the necessary measures to control the statements of the media during the broadcast.
“This is very serious”Mirtha said first before reading the apology statement.
“I want to use this end of the year to I apologize on behalf of myself and the production to Mr. Alejandro Fantino and her family, who, in her honor, felt hurt by an event that took place on this show years ago,” the host said.
“I hope that this gesture will help put this episode behind us,” he later hoped.
“Very happy new year and “I apologize again for the comment I made inappropriately.”concluded Mirtha.
After the fallout and scandal that arose after Natacha Jaitt’s time at her table, Mirtha Legrand expressed her regret just a few days later.
“First of all, I would like to apologize to the people mentioned who may have felt hurt by the statements made by one of the guests. Given the events, I wondered whether I should have told (Jaitt) to withdraw from the show. But that would have created a bigger scandal, especially because we respect the right to freedom of expression,” the diva said in the following show.
“I was against this lady being invited. He was not a figure for our program. You finally convinced me. And it was a mistake. I’m totally sorry. “It hurts me that he named people I love very much,” the diva added that day, before admitting that “the program got out of control.”
