The integration of new ones Surveillance technology enabled the Cordoba Provincial Correctional Service to dismantle a criminal organization who attempted to use drones to bring drugs, cell phones and other prohibited items into the Reverend Francisco Luchesse Prison Complex No. 1 in Bouwer.
The investigation began on Real-time detection of unmanned aerial vehicles flying over the prison area. The recently introduced technological systems made it possible not only to notice their presence, but also to track their movements and record important information to advance the legal complaint.
With these technical reports, the Ministry of Justice and Labor of Córdoba, through the Secretariat of the Penitentiary Organization, filed a complaint with the District 11 Public Prosecutor’s Office, headed by Prosecutor José Alberto Mana, who officially opened the case.
The Minister of Justice and Labor, Julian Lopezemphasized that the procedure was possible thanks to the Integration of “state-of-the-art technologies” to inhibit mobile phones and to detect, monitor and neutralize drones”, with the aim of preventing the infiltration of elements intended to commit crimes from prison contexts.

Following the complaint, the public prosecutor’s office continued the investigation in coordination with the Ministry of Security. The first operation took place near the prison complex in mid-November, during which cell phones, drone batteries, threads and banned substances were confiscated.
Subsequently, by order of the court, a new trial was initiated, culminating in the arrest of five adults near the prison. During this operation, three drones, a motorcycle, narcotics, binoculars with night vision, knives and various items used to transport prohibited items were confiscated.

Analysis of the confiscated cell phones enabled progress in a raid on a house in which a sixth person involved, a 17-year-old minor, was arrested. The adults were accused of the crime of illicit association, and after the confiscation of narcotics, the public prosecutor’s office for combating drug trafficking intervened, which opened a parallel investigation into drug trafficking.
For his part, the Minister of Security, Juan Pablo Quinteros, highlighted the joint work between the sectors involved and the use of police technology: he highlighted the work of the Criminal Investigation Department, the Special Forces and the Special Tactics Team, which allowed the surveillance and nighttime arrest of the suspects.
More than 200 soldiers took part in the operation in the early hours before Christmas Eve. The provincial government emphasized that the case was initiated by a complaint filed by the Correctional Service itself, which made it possible to deal a serious blow to a drug criminal gang that operated drones in the prison.
