This episode is part of a Christmas selection from EL PAÍS Audio, It was broadcast on October 27.
One day, in Miranda de Ebro, a van stopped in front of a school. Two Social Services technicians were moving inside with an order: remove a child from the classroom. No one told his parents. Shortly after, the same van returned to pick up his sister, a nine-month-old baby. Since then, Mari’s children Carmen and Marcelino have lived in four different homes: that of their parents, a center for minors, the foster home of a lawyer named María and, finally, an adoptive family. In Spain, a large part of the guardianship of minors is resolved administratively, without direct judicial intervention and with very limited defense capacity for families.
