The Villamanín City Council called on its neighbors to “preserve the coexistence of the neighborhood” and to contribute to “the situation” generated by the error committed by the members of the Festival Commission, which left unregistered participations totaling four million del Gordo … of the Christmas Lottery, “can be resolved in the best possible way”.
He did this through a statement in which he expressed his “regrets” for the situation that the municipality of León is experiencing and for the “impact” that these events have on the “public image” of the city, “an image that does not represent the feeling or values of coexistence” that have “always” characterized the city.
This statement was made public a few days after the mayor of the municipality, Félix Álvaro Barreales Canseco, also concerned, expressed the hope that everything could be resolved after the “agreement” reached last Friday during the meeting convened by the celebrations commission with the winners. A deal which consists of deducting 10% of the price from each participation (80,000 euros), with the aim that everyone who acquired them can recover them. Moreover, the tenth played by the commission itself, as well as their personal prizes, are made available to the rest of the winners, as they have already done, provided that no complaints are filed, which did not satisfy all the lucky neighbors.
So much so that, according to some of them, this situation “divided the people” and “broke coexistence”, since the error of the young people on the commission revived old grudges.
“We are aware of the concern and unease that this circumstance can generate among the people concerned,” adds the press release, which recalls that the participations were managed by a group of neighbors who, on a voluntary basis, “act independently” and “without connection” with the Town Hall.
However, the Town Hall has offered to collaborate, “to the extent possible, by facilitating dialogue and making municipal spaces available if this can help find a solution”.
“We appreciate the understanding and respect shown by neighbors at this time, and we hope that Villamanín can overcome this situation and continue to be an example of a united community,” concludes the note sent by the town hall.
