La San Silvestre Vallecana returns to the streets of Madrid to say goodbye to the year on December 31. The popular race will cause traffic cuts from 8:00 a.m. to midnight that day, which is why Madrid City Hall recommends that citizens use public transport as much as possible and avoid traveling in private vehicles in the areas affected by the route. If the use of a private vehicle is necessary for long distance travel, the use of the M-30 and M-40 is recommended.
Once again, the San Silvestre Vallecana will offer two different events: the popular one, which will take place between 4:50 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and 7:50 p.m., with a maximum capacity of 40,000 participants, and the International, between 7:55 p.m. and 7:55 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., with a maximum capacity of 2,000 participants.
La Popular will extend along the north-south axis of the city, starting from Concha Espina Avenue and arriving at Candilejas Street, touching the neighborhoods of Chamartín (El Viso neighborhood), Salamanca (Castellana and Recoletos), Centro (Cortes), Retiro (Jerónimos and Pacífico) and Puente de Vallecas (San Diego and Palomeras Bajas). The International will also follow the north-south axis, starting from Concha Espina Avenue and ending at Vallecas Stadium (gate 16), touching the same neighborhoods and neighborhoods.
Both tests will start from Concha Espina Avenue and cross Serrano Street, Argentine Republic Square, Independence Square, Alcalá Street, Cibeles Square, Paseo del Prado, Cánovas del Castillo Square, Emperor Carlos V Square, Barcelona City Avenue and Albufera Avenue, to then enter the Puente de Vallecas.
Traffic reductions
Total and partial traffic cuts will be established on December 31, from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, including the effects derived from the assembly and dismantling of infrastructure in the departure and arrival areas.
Near the exit, near the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, there will be cuts and traffic restrictions on Concha Espina Avenue, from Plaza de los Sagrados Corazones to Calle de Serrano, from December 30 at 3:00 p.m. as of December 31 at 11:59 p.m., maintenance of a route allowing the evacuation of neighbors, access to garages and emergency services.
Rafael Salgado Street, Padre Damián Street, the side of Paseo de la Castellana, Paseo de La Habana, Plaza de los Sagrados Corazones and Santo Domingo de Silos, San Juan de Lasalle and Marceliano Santa María streets will be affected, with varying schedules throughout the 31st.
In the arrival area, located around the Vallecas stadium, there will be traffic cuts and road occupations that will affect the streets of Candilejas, Payaso Fofó, Arroyo del Olivar, Javier de Miguel, Martínez de la Riva, la Diligencia, Puerto del Monasterio and Sierra del Cadí.

The effects will begin on the morning of December 30 and, in some sections, will last until January 2, as in the case of Avenida del Payaso Fofó, between Javier de Miguel and Arroyo del Olivar, towards the stadium.
Timing control mats will be installed along the route, resulting in complete road closures at specific locations on Calle Serrano, Paseo del Prado and Avenue Ciudad de Barcelona on the afternoon of the 31st.
In the area around the Vallecas Bridge, there will be a total interruption of traffic under the bridge, in both directions, between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. for the placement of the structures, the celebration of the event and their dismantling. The closure of access to the M-30 is not planned, although specific measures could be adopted depending on the influx of the public.
Parking bans
The Town Hall will establish parking bans from Monday December 30 in the departure and arrival areas and along the route, with variable times and sections. In the surroundings of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, among others, Concha Espina Avenue, Plaza de Lima, Plaza de los Sagrados Corazones, Paseo de La Habana, Serrano Street and surrounding streets will be affected.
In the surroundings of Vallecas Stadium, the bans will concern Candilejas Street, Payaso Fofó Avenue, Arroyo del Olivar Street, Javier de Miguel Street, Sierra del Cadí Street, Puerto del Monasterio Street and adjacent roads, with conditions that, in some points, will last until Thursday, January 2.
The installation of the infrastructures will begin on Tuesday December 30 in the morning, both in the departure zone and in the arrival zone, and will intensify on December 31. Dismantling will begin after the start of the international race, from 7:55 p.m., and end around midnight, with traffic gradually being restored.

During assembly and dismantling work, and when conditions permit, routes will be maintained for access and exit from garages, residents and emergency services. Once the international race has started, access to resident car parks will again be authorized during dismantling.
