
With more than 9 million tourists in 2025, Brazil experienced a 40% increase compared to the 6.7 million foreigners who visited the country in 2024. According to the UN Tourism World Tourism Barometer report, published in November, Brazil consolidated itself with a reference position on the global tourism map, showing the highest growth in foreign visitor arrivals among major international destinations.

In addition to the high volume of visitors from other countries, the income generated by international tourism in the country has increased. From January to November, international tourists generated 7.17 billion US dollars (39.56 billion reais) in the Brazilian economy, an increase of 8.41% compared to the same period of 2024.
The state of São Paulo was the destination that welcomed the most foreigners in 2025, with nearly 2.5 million arrivals over this period. Next come Rio de Janeiro (1.9 million), Rio Grande do Sul (1.4 million), Paraná (958 thousand) and Santa Catarina (651 thousand).
Certain traditional events on Brazilian territory and known throughout the world contribute to maintaining this high volume of tourists. According to the Planalto Social Communication Secretariat (Secom), Carnival 2025 alone mobilized more than 53 million people and generated revenues exceeding 12 billion reais. The Lady Gaga parade held in May in Copacabana (RJ) generated an economic impact estimated at 600 million reais, attracting between 1.6 and 2 million people.
The federal government highlights that the number of foreigners who visited the country in 2025 exceeded by 30% the forecast for the year, which was 6.9 million international tourists.
Who else has visited Brazil?
The organization also announced that Argentina’s neighbors stood out as the biggest foreigners visiting the country. In 11 months, Brazilian destinations recorded the arrival of 3.1 million residents of the country, a total of 82.1% more than in the same period last year.
Second place goes to Chile, with 21,497 arrivals between January and November 2025. Next come the United States, with 677,888 arrivals, and Uruguay, with 487,514 tourists. Paraguay is in fifth place, with 454,327 foreign arrivals.
Tourism in Brazilian territory has also been very active. Around 83.2 million passengers traveled on domestic flights in the first ten months, making Brazil the fourth largest domestic airline market in the world.
According to a survey carried out by the Ministry of Tourism (MTur), in partnership with Nexus (Data Research and Intelligence), Fernando de Noronha (PE), Porto de Galinhas (PE) and Lençóis Maranhenses (MA) are at the top of the ranking of tourist destinations that arouse the most interest among Brazilians.
According to the Brazilian Airlines Association (Abear), companies in the sector have scheduled 150,000 flights and 20 million seats between December 2025 and February 2026, including national and international destinations. The total represents an increase of 15% compared to the same period in 2024, with the offer of more than 9 thousand additional flights and 1.4 million additional seats.
