The Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo issued, Monday afternoon (29), a severe warning of heavy rains in the northern and central areas of São Paulo. The warning indicates the risk of lightning, intense winds and the possibility of impact on neighboring areas, due to instability caused by heat and high humidity.
According to the agency, moderate to strong wind gusts are expected in all areas of the state. In the eastern half, winds can reach strong to very strong intensity.
In the capital, the Climate Emergency Management Center (CGE) has placed the entire city of São Paulo on flood alert. Other areas of the city were already on alert due to the rains that hit São Paulo throughout the afternoon.
According to the CGE, areas of instability have formed within the capital due to the heat combined with the entry of sea breezes. Meteorological stations recorded moderate rains, with light spots, in the eastern zone, notably in the regions of Penha, Aricanduva/Formosa and Mooca.

There is a risk of flooding due to the slow movement of areas of instability, in addition to the risk of wind gusts that can exceed 50 km/h. Civil Defense advises the population to avoid flooded areas, to stay away from the electricity network and to take refuge in safe places in the event of a storm.
