How the inmate was located
Ernesto was found after being approached by police officers in Novo Gama (GO). During the approach, one of the officers recognized the man after reading the report published by the Metropolises and informed other police officers by radio.
Back at the Novo Gama bus station, where the approach had taken place, police spoke to the drivers, who reported that Ernesto had boarded a bus headed to Santa Maria.
Equipped with information on their possible destination, the family headed towards the administrative region. In Santa Maria, a bus driver also recognized the man, this time from posters with his photo spread around the area, and called the phone number listed as belonging to the inmate’s sister. After this contact, the family members went to the indicated location and managed to find him on the BRT.
