In addition to randomly choosing tens, a common practice among many punters, some use statistics to try to increase their luck. One of the most used criteria is to observe the numbers that appeared the most during previous editions of Mega da Virada, even without any guarantee that history influences the result.
The figures that stood out the most in Mega da Virada
A survey by Caixa Econômica Federal shows that number 10 is the most recurring in the history of Mega da Virada, having been drawn five times since the creation of the competition. Then come numbers 5 and 33, already published in four editions.
Other numbers also appear frequently among previous results, forming a varied list of dozens that have appeared two or three times over the years. Despite this, Caixa emphasizes that all numbers have the same probability of being drawn, regardless of history.

How to bet on Mega da Virada 2025
Games can be played through the Loterias Caixa application, through the official Loterias Caixa website, at lottery points throughout the country or, in the case of bank customers, through Internet Banking. The bettor can check 6 to 20 numbers among the 60 available on the wheel or choose Surpresinha, when the system automatically chooses the numbers.
It is also possible to participate via pools. The ticket itself allows you to form a group, and lotteries offer organized pool shares, with the possibility of charging an additional service fee of up to 35% on the value of the share.
How much does it cost to play and what are the odds?
A simple bet, with six tens, costs R$6 and is the most affordable option. As the bettor chooses more numbers, the stake value increases significantly. A game with 20 tens, for example, costs R$232,560.
The chances of winning vary depending on the number of numbers marked. With the minimum bet, the probability of hitting six tens is one in more than 50 million, according to Caixa. With 20 numbers, the chance increases to one in 1,292.

A price that does not accumulate
Unlike classic Mega-Sena contests, Mega da Virada does not stack. If no one guesses all six numbers correctly, the prize is distributed to those who guess correctly in the next series, and so on, ensuring that the entire amount is paid.
The prize amount is mainly made up of the collection of bets from the competition itself, in addition to the sums accumulated throughout the year in other Caixa draws.
Where to check the result and how to redeem it
The draw takes place in São Paulo, broadcast live on the official Caixa channels on YouTube and Facebook. After the competition, the numbers drawn and the distribution of winnings are available on the establishment’s website.
Prizes can be redeemed at Caixa agencies. Amounts starting at R$10,000 are paid within two business days of the winner being announced. It is necessary to present the winning ticket or proof of the bet, as well as photo identification and a CPF. Caixa recommends that the winner identify the ticket on the back before leaving home. The refund period is 90 days; After this period, the amount is transferred to Fies.
The expectation of R$1 billion exceeds all previous competitions. To date, the biggest prize was for 2024, amounting to 635.4 million reais. Since then, Mega da Virada has broken successive records, consolidating itself as the most anticipated draw in the Brazilian lottery calendar.
