Everything is prepared for the celebration of a new edition of the San Silvestre Toledana, an already classic event in the city’s sports calendar which will return to transform the urban area into a large sports circuit marked by a festive and high atmosphere … bet. The race will take place this New Year’s Eve starting from Cardenal Tavera street, between Merchán and Sisebuto avenues, a place that has hosted the event for years due to its greater capacity to accommodate thousands of runners.
Before the main race, children’s events will be organized, organized by age groups, during a day which will bring together 600 children and 4,600 runners in absolute tests. The issues have been sold out for days.

4:00 p.m.: category from 0 to 5 years old, male and female, with a distance of 400 meters (one lap). Non-competitive test, with gift raffle and possibility of an adult chaperone.

4:10 p.m.: female category 6 to 9 years old, 400 meters (one lap), with draw.

4:20 p.m.: category 6 to 9 years old males, 400 meters (one lap), with draw.

4:35 p.m.: category 10 and 11 years old, men and women, 800 meters (two laps), with trophies for the first three.

4:45 p.m.: categories 12 and 13 years old and 14 and 15 years old, men and women, 1,200 meters (three laps), with trophies for the first three.
As for the routes, IThe children’s events will take place on a fully fenced circuit on Cardenal Tavera street, between the Puerta de Bisagra roundabout and the Tavera roundabout, on a round-trip route whose number of turns will vary depending on the category.

At 6:00 p.m. the absolute races will begin, which will have a distance of eight kilometers. The organization has four categories: men and women (16 years or older) and veterans (40 years or older), with prizes for the first five in each of them. The start will be staggered depending on the color of the number.
The absolute race will start and end in La Vega, with an urban route of eight kilometers which will cover the main axes of the city and the historic center, following the following complete itinerary:

On the occasion of the test, the circuit will remain free of private vehicles from around 5 p.m., while The total closure of traffic on the affected roads will take place from 5:45 p.m. hours, in order to guarantee the safety of runners and the public.
From a sporting point of view, Pedro Vega and Silvia Rey, winners of the previous edition, start again as big favorites. Vega will reunite with Adrián Villa, son of Alameda champion Pedro Villa, while on the men’s side David Rey will also start. Among those registered are also the first four from last year – Pedro Vega, Adrián Villa, Abraham García and Álvaro Hernández – and the first three women – Silvia Rey, Claudia Moreno and Elena Viejo –, which guarantees a high level of competition.
The previous edition confirmed the growth in female participation, with 1,118 women and 2,025 men in the absolute race.in addition to the 600 children in the children’s events. An evolution parallel to the history of the event, which began with only 200 athletes and started from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, passed through Zocodover and was finally consolidated in La Vega.
The organization is led by the Association of Friends of Athletics, with the sponsorship of Soliss and Unicaja and the support of public bodies, while the technical management corresponds to Evedeport. La San Silvestre Toledana will also once again organize costume competitions and prizes for the groups with the greatest participation, thus reinforcing its fun and popular character in one of the most notable sports days of the year in the city.
