How to leave Copacabana after shows
The metro will be the main means of transportation for those leaving Copacabana after New Year’s Eve. The special MetrôRio operation takes place on the 31st at 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. on January 1, and boarding will only be allowed with the special New Year’s Eve 2026 passport, which costs R$15 via the metro website or app, and entitles you to a round trip.
After midnight, boarding will be done exclusively using the return bracelet, given to the passenger en route to the event. There is no fixed return time: boarding is free between 0 a.m. and 5 a.m., provided that the user wears the bracelet.
For those opting for buses, departures from Copacabana will be concentrated at the Enseada de Botafogo terminal, which will operate from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. From 9 p.m. there will be no more boarding of buses in Copacabana.
Between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., passengers must walk to Botafogo to board buses, organized by line groups, with destinations to the North Zone, Center and Greater Tijuca, Ilha do Governador, West Zone and Southwest Zone, Baixada Fluminense, Leste Fluminense and the Serrana region. There will also be intercity lines to municipalities such as Niterói, São Gonçalo, Maricá, Duque de Caxias, Nova Iguaçu, São João de Meriti and Petrópolis, with departures scheduled throughout the morning.
