On the 25th of this month, Cedae will carry out annual maintenance of the Guandu system – responsible for supplying treated water to the majority of the population in Rio’s metropolitan area. This intervention is scheduled to take place from 2 am to 8 pm and will require the complete closure of the Guandu (Eta) water treatment plant and the Lameirão lift, in Senador Vasconcelos, in the western region of Rio. As a result, water production will be temporarily halted for the municipalities of Rio de Janeiro, Duque de Caxias, São João de Mirite, Nova Iguaçu, Mesquita, Nilopolis, Belford Roxo and Quemados.

The Guandu system is expected to gradually resume operation after services are completed, and production is expected to reach 100% of capacity by 2 a.m. on the 26th.
Therefore, Cedae recommends that residents stock up on water in advance and postpone high-consumption tasks during the maintenance period. Distribution in the areas served will be the responsibility of the franchisees of Aguas do Rio, Igua and Rio + Sanamento, according to their areas of operation.
