Mega da Virada 2025, the 2.955 contest of the Mega-Sena, was postponed to Thursday January 1, 2026. The prize of one billion reais, the largest ever recorded in Brazilian lotteries, caused operational problems due to the volume of bets and prevented the draw on Wednesday 31.

The historic jackpot does not accumulate, that is, if no one gets all six numbers correctly, the value passes to the second group of winners, who hit the corner (five shots).

Bets could be registered until 8 p.m. this Wednesday. In the home stretch, bettors who left to make their last minute “faith” ended up queuing in the virtual environments of Loterias Caixa.

The competition, which has existed since 2009, has already organized 16 editions, and, curiously, 10 numbers out of the 60 possible have never been drawn until the 2024 edition: 07, 08, 09, 13, 26, 28, 39, 44, 54 and 60.

In last year’s draw, a dozen appeared for the first time: 19. The number that appeared the most in Mega da Virada draws is 10, which was drawn in 5 of the 16 editions held.

Since its inception in 2009, Mega da Virada has awarded 129 bets matching all six numbers. In all the draws of this special edition, there was more than one winner. In years with the highest number of winners, 2018 saw 52 winning bets, while 2017 had 17 winners.
