These are four thieves who robbed houses / EL DIA
Amid growing concerns about property crime in La Plata, police managed to break up a gang consisting of four criminals, three of whom were of Colombian nationality, who aimed to break into homes, taking advantage of the early hours of the morning and the absence of residents. The defendants, identified as MPS (29), SDDF (22), ADPY (30) and PACS (43), were intercepted following a routine operation that allowed them to be identified in a suspicious vehicle on roads 526 and 26.
The procedure was carried out thanks to intensive patrols, which provided accurate information about possible perpetrators lurking in the area and were observed in a black car, presumably checking houses for robberies. When they were arrested, the officers discovered that they had hydraulic pressure pumps, tools for silently breaking open latches and doors, as well as a toolbox and a transport cart. The vehicle, a VW Voyage, had irregularities in the numbering of the doors and trunk, increasing suspicions of links to previous crimes.
According to official sources, the band members could not justify their presence at the crime scene and contradicted each other during the inspection. Authorities began comparing images from surveillance cameras and statements from neighbors to link them to various crimes.
Among those arrested, PACS records records of robberies and attempted robberies in several Buenos Aires jurisdictions, including Baradero, Magdalena, Moreno and La Matanza. He also has a proven record of investigating illegal activities and the alleged marketing of stolen items, while Perdomo Suárez had previously been intercepted along with other Colombians who were roaming residential areas with suspicious intentions.
The operation, in which Police Station 11 took part and was endorsed by the public prosecutor in charge, reflects a coordinated effort to combat a criminal modality that causes alarm among neighbors: the so-called “entrances”, where criminals wait for the absence of residents to force their way into houses. According to police, this type of crime has increased in recent months, causing fear and vulnerability in various neighborhoods.
Neighbors interviewed in this case agreed that preventative police presence is key to preventing the action of specialized gangs that act with planning and speed. “They are watching live who is coming in and who is leaving, and the robberies are becoming more and more brazen,” said a frontline member.
The arrest of “Los Berracos” shows the coordination between the authorities and the investigative work, which made it possible to identify links to other previous events and to consolidate the police action against criminal organizations operating in the city.
Authorities emphasized that after the trial, the four defendants were transferred to judicial offices, where investigations continue into their involvement in other events and possible irregularities in their entry into the country. The case is being handled by UFI No. 1 of the La Plata Judicial Department. Prosecutor Ana Medina supported the police’s actions and will investigate those arrested.
