The Minister of Economy and Finance and Spokesman of the Council, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, classified the meeting held on Saturday, the last one, with the Vox parliamentary group within the open communications round to analyze the draft budget law of Castile and León for 2026, as “particularly useful”. He stressed that in total, “nearly nine hours of meetings” were invested with all the formations represented in the Cortes.
He said: “We conveyed the content of the budget, its objectives and our vision, and we also received the opinions of the parties.” After this stage, a few days were required for formations “Think and decide your position.” Before voting. He added, “The ministry’s doors are open if they need clarifications or additional communications. We will, of course, respect what they decide.”
Carriedo defended that the 2026 accounts “help the self-employed, support the elderly, maintain commitment to the rural world and promote economic growth,” in addition to strengthening aid such as POSIL, free education from 0 to 3 years or support outside school hours.
Fox talks about “moderate optimism,” but he sets conditions
Vox’s spokesman in Cortes, David Herro, also gave a positive assessment of the meeting, despite its nuances. He said: “Today’s meeting with Carlos Fernandez Carriedo was full of moderate optimism.” He pointed out that the advisor showed the “spirit of negotiation.” “We saw in Carriedo today the Popular Party of Valencia, which wants to reach agreements with Fox, He literally said they should engage with Vox as a reference partner, and we love that, we love that.”
Hierro also confirms that Carriedo recognized the validity of the 32 points in the government agreement, which is the basis of the known agreement gurruñoHe was receptive to proposals such as ending support for organizations linked – according to Fox – to the “advocacy influence” of irregular migration, promoting the return of minor migrants to their countries of origin or reconsidering aid provided to unions. He added: “He told us that some of these issues could be included in the negotiation.”
Fox also proposed changes to rental assistance “with priority for citizens”, a greater allocation of public service funds “for Spaniards” and real tax cuts on remittances, notarized legal deeds and inheritances. He also expressed his “surprise” at the reduction in the amount allocated to victims of terrorism.
“You must say it publicly before Monday.”
Although the meeting was, in Hierro’s words, “long and productive,” Fox stipulates his decision on the entire amendment must be recorded by Monday at 2:00 p.m. -L General statement by President Alfonso Fernández Manico.
“If this budget was this important, it should have been here today,” the spokesman lamented. “Before Monday at 12 noon, you have to come out and say that you agree to negotiate these measures and that you participate, because they are in the government agreement. If you do not do that, there will be an amendment in its entirety.”
Fox insists that this gesture must come from the president himself because it is he who must “ensure” that the harmony shown by Carriedo “translates into real political decisions.”
As the groups enter their reflection period, the Council maintains its message of openness to dialogue. For its part, the Vox Party makes it clear that the key to addressing the budget will not depend on today’s meeting, but rather on the general response that Manyweko will decide to present in the coming hours.
