A match in Rescada, in the 37th round of the Brazilian Second Division, with Santa Catarina winning 3-1 and confusion in the final stage.
On Saturday afternoon (15) in Resacada, Avai’s 3-1 victory over Remo, in the 37th round of the Second Division, went ahead. After all, it was the unfortunate scenes on and off the pitch that characterized the encounter between Santa Catarina and Parra. The match, which was supposed to be decisive only within the four lines, was stopped due to confusion in the stands and ended, in fact, with six players sent off after a fight that escalated to great proportions.
A tense atmosphere since before the start of the match
Behind the scenes, rumors spread that Avai would take the field with athletes from Al-Qaeda due to “lack of goals.” But this information was rejected by the club in an official statement. Therefore, the tension was reflected in the stands: at first, the military police had to intervene to remove Remo fans who had bought tickets in the sectors designated for the home team’s fans.
Conflicts in the stands
In the 48th minute of the second half, members of the Remo group smashed the gate, stormed the Avai fan area and attacked local residents. But security at the stadium succeeded in containing the clashes and returning the invaders to the visitors’ sector.
On the other side of the resacada, Paysandu fans who were with the Azzurra fans also tried to reach the visiting area, causing new confusion and paralyzing the match. The referee added an additional four minutes in addition to the first eight minutes.
Fighting in the field, expulsion and closure
Just when it looked like the match was about to end, a Remo throw-in sparked a brawl between Diego Hernandez and Marquinhos Gabriel. The player push from Barra sparked a large-scale battle. After VAR analysis, the referee distributed six red cards: four to the Avai players and two to Remo. With nerves under control, the match resumed and ended soon after with Avai victorious.
Latest commitments of Avai and Remo
Leao da Ilha returns to action on Sunday (16), at 4:30pm, when they visit Botafogo SP at Estadio Santa Cruz, in Ribeirão Preto (SP). On the other hand, Remo is still dreaming of arriving and hosting his direct rival Goias at the same time in Sirinha.
