Santo Amaro councilor, Gleber Jr. (Avante), and his councilor, Diego Castro Reyes, were shot dead in a city farm, located in Reconcavo Baiano, on Sunday (9/11). According to the civil police, the murders occurred inside a property belonging to the parliamentarian’s family, in the rural area of ​​the municipality.
The military police were called in the early hours of the day following reports of a double murder on a farm in the area. Once the army arrived at the scene, they discovered the bodies.

The civil police are investigating the case, and so far, there is no information about the perpetrator or motive behind the crime. The company stated in a statement that the investigation will be conducted by the Santo Amaro Police Station.
“According to preliminary information, the victims were killed in circumstances that have not yet become clear. Representatives of the security forces, including military and civilian police and the Technical Police Department (DPT), were present at the site to carry out initial procedures,” the statement read.
Glieber was 37 and served on the Santo Amaro City Council, where he was a member of the Works, Public Services and Transportation Committee. The organization issued a statement in which it mourned the death of the advisor and declared a three-day official mourning period. The local city council followed the same position.
A statement from the City Council read: “Glieber Jr. served his term with dedication, commitment and enthusiasm for the people of Santo Amaro, leaving a legacy of work, respect and love for our city. In this moment of pain, the City Council expresses its condolences to the family, friends and the entire community who share this sense of loss.”

The Chamber also expressed its regret over the death of Councilor Diego Castro Reyes, 23 years old, who worked on the Council.
