It seems the sky’s the limit for Joey Khoury, who is a true skateboarding phenomenon. This Sunday (11/09) he became champion of the Pro Tour STU VERT with the highest score in the history of the sport, 99.00 points, surpassing his own mark (98.00), achieved on the Porto Alegre stage this year.
In fact, with his high ride in the capital city of Rio Grande do Sul, he had equaled the feat of the legendary Bob Burnquist in an edition of the Third place went to one of the VERT specialists from a few years ago, Ronnie Gomez, also in “9 Gang”, with a score of 92.00.
The strange thing is that champion Gui Khoury appeared to be heating up the turbines on his skateboard. On the first drop, he already received a score of 94.33 from the judges. In the second, it had already jumped to 97.30. Until he surpassed himself and maddened the crowd that filled the stands, with intense and crazy maneuvers that he himself was keen to report in the end, reaching 99.00 points and breaking his world record in the vertical.
“What’s worse is that today was very difficult, I had to beat myself a lot. In the first, I actually scored 94. In the second, I got 97 and added another maneuver. In the third, I added ‘Flip Melon Front’ and ‘Flip Indy 36’. One is a very difficult maneuver and the other is even more difficult.” flow. But, deep down, they both helped me a lot in getting this very high grade. Needless to say, I’m really happy, aren’t I?!” said Gui Khoury, who turns 17 next month.

Luigi Cini, also from Curitiba, stated that with his friend and compatriot Gui Khouri’s score close to perfect, he needed to do a trick of the hat. Even then, his highest score was 92.50, which actually placed him in second place. The last time he went to the track, you could feel some tension in the air. The skating family in attendance, knowing what Luigi could do, was already looking forward to another high-profile trip. And it happened.
