Super Astro has two draws played practically every day as follows:
- Super Astro Sol is celebrated Monday through Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
- Super Astro Luna is celebrated Monday through Friday at 10:50 p.m., and Saturdays at 10:45 p.m. and on Sundays and holidays at 8:30 p.m.
To claim a prize in Super Astro, you must provide documents that vary according to the prize amount, measured in UVT (Unit of Tax Value):
For prizes less than 48 UVT (about 2,259,120 pesos), you must surrender the duly completed original ticket, original identification document and a 150% enlarged copy. These prizes are usually paid at authorized points of sale such as Su Red or Supergiros.
For prizes between 48 and 181 UVT (between approximately $2,259,120 and $8,518,765), in addition to the above, you must fill out the SIPLAFT (Comprehensive System for the Prevention of Money Laundering) form, which you will find at the point of sale.
For prizes over 181 UVT (over US$8,518,765), you must submit the above documents as well as a bank certificate in the name of the winner no older than 30 days. Payment is made via bank transfer within approximately 8 business days.
It is essential that the original ticket is in good condition, without scratches or modifications, and that the copy of the identity document is clear.
To participate and have a chance to win one of the billion pesos in the Super Astro prizes, you first have to go to any of the Su Red or Super Giros points of sale. Or if you prefer to do it online, you can go to the official website or download the application from any of the authorized distributors.
Next, you have to choose the winning combination which must consist of four numbers from 0 to 9 plus the zodiac sign. You can also choose the 12 zodiac signs to increase your chances of winning.
With the bet selected, you must make a payment ranging from 500 pesos to 10 thousand pesos per ticket. The higher the amount paid, the larger the winning prize.
To win the jackpot, the four numbers and the bet marker must match the day’s results, however, there is the possibility of getting a bonus from the two correct answers.
The grand prize, i.e. for whoever guesses the four numbers and the sign, is determined by multiplying the bet amount by 42,000 times. For those who guessed three numbers plus the sign, the money offered will be determined by multiplying the bet amount one thousand times. As for whoever guesses two numbers in addition to the sign, the prize will be 100 times the bet amount.
It is worth noting that prizes below 182 UVT ($8,565,830) will be paid out at each dealer’s authorized points of sale. While the prizes are equal to or greater than 182 UV, the winner must go to a SuRed or Super Giros point of sale to be formalized as a winner, after which the prize will be paid at the Bank of the West offices through a check.
Super Astro prizes are primarily subject to two taxes:
A 20% at-source deduction, which only applies to prizes equal to or greater than 48 UVT (about $1,709,136 to $2,259,120 pesos, depending on source). This deduction corresponds to a tax on prizes won in games of chance and chance.
GMF or 4×1000 tax, which is imposed on financial transactions made at the time of depositing or withdrawing prize money. This tax is indirect and is borne by the award beneficiary.
Furthermore, for prizes exceeding 182 UVT (about $6,600,000 or $8,500,000 according to various references), payment is made by bank transfer, with these discounts applied before the winner receives the net amount. These taxes are mandatory and are withheld at source to ensure compliance with Colombia’s tax regulations.
