One of the biggest complaints that former banker Daniel Forcaro made to his countless friends in power in Brasilia, and also in São Paulo, was that Finance Minister Fernando Haddad (PT-SP) never reserved space on the agenda to talk to him.
The owner of the Master Bank, arrested by the Federal Police (PF) on Tuesday (18), has managed, in the space of a few years, to form an influential network of friends and to be close to authorities at the top of the executive branch (such as the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa), the legislative branch (such as the President of the Senate, Davy Alcombre) and the judiciary (such as Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF, whose wife, Vivian, was previously appointed to him). This is just to name a few.
But he found in Haddad an insurmountable barrier.
In addition to calling in the authorities to try to overcome the problem, Forcaro appealed to lawyers close to the minister and his friends, such as former Finance Minister Guido Mantega, who worked for Master. in vain.
In his first attempts, Haddad, who did not know much about the banker, asked his friends in the financial market for information about him. They said that the master’s situation was unsustainable, and sooner or later he would “explode.”
The minister, who usually receives businessmen and bankers from various sectors, and also participates in events held by the institutions that represent them, decided in this particular case to avoid the meeting.
Forcaro’s allies claim that Haddad is tainted by conspiracies carried out by his rivals in the financial market, especially banker Andre Esteves, of BTG Pactual.
But the Labor MP’s interlocutors now claim time has proven the minister was right to avoid contact and pose for a photo with the now former banker.
In addition to his arrest, Forcaro saw his bank liquidated by the Central Bank.
