Unlike the first round, Tricolor did not lose to teams that are at the top of the table and can improve their performance; check it out
It can be said that the Fluminense team no longer fears the top four places in the Brazilian championship. After a zero-sum performance in the first round against G4 of the competition, the Tri-Color team has managed to regroup and has yet to lose to the teams. After defeating Flamengo last Wednesday, Flon still has the task of facing Palmeiras and may move closer to the Libertadores position.
In the first duels against Flamengo, Palmeiras, Cruzeiro and Mirasol, which make up the group of four, Fluminense did not score any points. However, in the second round, the Tricolor had a great performance against the top four, leaving behind the poor results of the first part of the tournament.
On the other hand, the team led by Luis Zubeldia beat Mirasol, tied with Cruzeiro, and beat Flamengo. The final confrontation against the G4 team will be on Saturday (22), against Palmeiras, at Allianz Parque Stadium, as part of the 35th round of the Brazilian Championship.
However, there are differences between first and second round duels. The clash against Cruzeiro, Flamengo and Palmeiras came days after the historic Club World Cup semi-final qualifiers in the United States. Now with Luis Zubeldia in charge, Fluminense only had to focus on the Brazilian league until December. The coach will then conclude the season with the Brazilian Cup.
“Today’s match, although it was very difficult in all respects, required a very high level of concentration, especially since we are facing strong opponents in a row. Mirasol, Cruzeiro and Flamengo, all teams that are at the top of the standings and performing well in the Brazilian league,” Zubeldia said in a press conference.
The fight for the Libertadores
With 54 points, Fluminense is in sixth place, and Bahia also lost to Fortaleza last Thursday (20). The dream of a place in the Copa Libertadores is still alive. Victory over Palmeiras next Saturday sends the place to Tricolor. The G7 could still become the G8 depending on what happens in the Brazilian Cup finals.
