The Ministry of Mines and Energy opened on Monday (10) the public consultation for the first auction that will contract batteries and storage systems for the Brazilian electricity sector.
According to the proposal published in the DOU (Official Journal of the Union), the tender will be launched in April 2026 and will offer 10-year contracts with supply starting from August 1, 2028.
The dispute aims to enable the installation of storage systems while the country deals with excess power from intermittent sources, with limited production from wind and solar plants, and the risk of power outages at certain times of the day.
