On December 19th, the wait was over because, finally, the third chapter of the magnum opus of James Cameron will hit theaters. We talk, of course, about Avatar: Fire and Ash which with its 195 minutes of duration will become the longest in the saga. But let no one be alarmed because the first assembly lasted 9 hours…
From what we know, it will also be the darkest and most dramatic installment, as it will develop a whole series of problems within the Sully clan. On the one hand, there is a distance between Neytiri and Jake and, on the other, between them as parents or adoptive parents and their descendants.
One of the big changes we will see in this edition is the change in the narrator, who will no longer be Jake in favor of Lo’ak while Kiri will gradually acquire a greater specific weight in the plot until she is one of the new central characters.
What about the future? Cameron considers The meaning of water and fire and ashes a kind of complete story arc with its own beginning, development and outcome. Let’s remember that both were filmed simultaneously to give them the necessary continuity. This implies that Avatar 4 and Avatar 5expected for 2029 and 2031 respectively, would have a similar production process if the box office responded as expected.
If you’re anxious about the wait and eager to return to Pandora, we have a plan you can’t refuse: watch the documentary on Disney Plus Fire and Water: How the Avatar Movies Were Made. In it you will find interviews with the director and cast, behind-the-scenes images and explanations of the project from its conception to its implementation on screen.
In the meantime, we will remain attentive to offer you any news and we invite you to December 1st, when we will be able to give you our first impressions of the film after enjoying it in full at Kinépolis cinemas.
