Two factories were affected, but no casualties were reported

A major fire in Lomas de Zamora affected two plastics factories that were completely damaged. Residents were evacuated, although no casualties were reported.

“We are working with heavy machinery so that we can remove the structures from the building that burned, and finish extinguishing the fire,” commented Gustavo Liuzzi, the fire chief dedicated to the incident operation.

It was determined that the outbreak of fire began after two in the morning, and according to firefighters, the neighbors were evacuated when the first crew arrived.

He said: “We evacuated the entire building, and over time, after we saw that the situation had become safe, some neighbors returned to their homes, except for those who live in the neighboring houses.”

When asked about the damaged buildings, Liuzzi explained: “Two factories were burned: one for plastic packaging and the other for plastic injection that makes toys.” He added that “16 crews are working,” stressing that due to the long holiday there are no injuries or victims to report.

Finally, he confirmed that the fire “has been subdued and controlled,” and that within the next few minutes it will begin to “collapse the structure 100%” because “there is nothing useful anymore.”

The causes of the fire are still unknown, but Liuzi confirmed that they will analyze the security cameras and investigations will be conducted.
