The MasterChef Celebrity stoves were turned on again for a high-stress night this Sunday, as the judges raised the bar with a technical challenge that tested the celebrities’ precision and decided which participants secured their place in the benefit gala and those who would have to face each other again in the last chance gala.
In the challenge of the night, chefs Damian Petular, Donato De Santis and German Martitegui challenged participants to execute a signature dish: Nino Bergès Raviolone.
The dish features raw egg yolks encased inside pasta. The challenge is that contestants can’t tell if they’ve done it right on time, when it’s already in the jury’s hands.
Although there were good dishes and not so good ones, the dish that stole all the attention was the ravioli Michelangelo. The actor served his version of Nino Bergès’ dish: flat ravioli, sparsely stuffed and firm.
Upon seeing the avocado, the jury was scathing when they returned, comparing her pasta to a “pie” or even a “pasqualina.” “You have to hope someone else does worse,” Petular said.
