MB (Mercado Bitcoin) has changed its president and now CEO Lucas Lopes will head the Brazilian operation of the cryptocurrency brokerage. Reynaldo Rabelo, the former CEO, will now lead the so-called Europe operation, which handles the company’s business in Portugal.
The position of head of the Brazil operation has now been created with a division between the heads of the stock exchange in the country and abroad. They both report to the president of Grupo 2TM, Roberto Dagnoni, who is the “boss” of MB.
“Lucas’ arrival represents a strategic strengthening of the MB leadership team. He combines successful experiences in scaling businesses, a proven track record in credit and collections, as well as designing products targeting large audiences, always focusing on technology and data to improve the customer journey,” Dagnoni said in a note.
Lopez worked at Serasa Experian before joining the brokerage’s cryptocurrency and leading product, technology and data teams. He graduated from ESPM with an MBA from FGV. “We want to accelerate our digital journey, expanding the use of technology and data to create exceptional experiences for our users,” Lopez said in a statement.
In addition to Lopez, MB also announced the creation of a wealth management area, called MB Ultra, which will be led by Felipe Whittaker. CEO Jerès Contini, in turn, will be the company’s new Director of Marketing, Growth and Digital Channels.
MB stated that its goals are to reach R$400 billion in transaction volume by 2030 and increase the customer base from 4 million to 25 million. The focus on the digital retail investor continues.
