The motorcycle crashed and flew into the air

“So far this year, 70 road tragedies have been recorded in the region.” With this title, the printed version of Al-Dia newspaper talked about the drama experienced by traffic accidents. In the past 24 hours, two motorcyclists were added to the list of traffic deaths, widening the gap compared to 2024.

Worse still, a third death was only miraculously added. Last night, there was a traffic accident, where a motorcyclist collided with a car and flew into the air.

The accident occurred around 9 p.m. On the 44th and 45th, a red Honda GLH 150 collided with a Volkswagen Gol Trend. As a result of the strong collision, the driver of the small car, 25 years old, fell and collided with a Volkswagen Bora.

The fact is that witnesses were able to contact the police, and an ambulance from the same city arrived immediately, transporting the injured man to San Martin Hospital, where he received medical care. The same sources confirmed to this newspaper that his injuries were “serious,” but so far his health condition is unknown.

Two deaths during the past few hours

We must remember that yesterday there were two motorcyclists who lost their lives. The first known case occurred at the intersection of 44th and 153rd Streets, where three people were traveling in a Honda Wave 110. Under those circumstances, and for reasons that are still being investigated, a mistake and a serious fall occurred.

The speakers explained that the collision was horrific and the causes were fatal to a 20-year-old young man, and he was not the owner of the car, although he was the one who allegedly drove it. What is noteworthy is that the accused, the owner of the motorcycle, fled the scene of the accident and appeared after a while at the police station headquarters. There he proceeded to deliver it. In any case, the reason for his behavior is unknown, and the authorities did not specify any restrictive measures towards him, and he was identified in the proceedings.

The deceased was identified, according to the sources consulted, as Luciano Andres Cisneros, who lived in Tolosa.

The second fatal case occurred shortly after at numbers 137 and 523 in the La Granja neighborhood. At that location, a Renault Stepway motorcycle and a Honda XR 250 motorcycle, driven by Pablo Ezequiel Soto (34 years old), also a resident of Tolosa, collided. Unfortunately, when the emergency medical team arrived at the scene, there was no time for transport. Soto is already dead.

At the same time, the car was driven by a woman accused of “manslaughter.”

In both cases, the Public Prosecutor’s Office No. 14 of La Plata intervened, led by Maria Scarpino, which had already ordered the scanning of cameras and witnesses and requested the expert reports required to determine the mechanisms of the two incidents and the responsible authorship.

Numbers that place half in the area

As reported, 70 deaths have already been recorded this year, exceeding the number of deaths recorded for all of 2024, which reached 64. This increase raises alarm bells among specialists and authorities, and reflects a problem that seems to be getting worse instead of improving.

Most fatal events have motorcyclists as central protagonists. These are young people between the ages of 18 and 35, many without helmets or in fragile conditions, traveling at night or in poorly lit areas.

Added to this is another limiting factor: the use of cell phones while driving. The incidence of distracted driving has been on the rise, and today road safety specialists point out that it is one of the main causes of accidents in urban areas. He also mentions alcohol consumption – especially on weekends – and fatigue among those who drive long distances or work long days.

From various organizations linked to road safety, they are calling for stronger policies, effective controls, permanently active breathalyzers and actions that make it possible to regulate critical points where accidents occur again.

Families of the victims, many of whom are grouped in NGOs fighting impunity on the roads, warn that behind every number there is a truncated story and a multiplied drama.

Meanwhile, the death toll continues to rise. With 70 deaths, the region has already surpassed last year’s toll and is heading toward ending a period of intense pain.

For specialists, this is a trend that can only be reversed through a combination of stricter controls, sustained road education, and urgent improvement of urban infrastructure.
