The case began after leaving the event in São Bernardo. In an interview with the Register, Feeney said he was approached, put in a car and made financial demands. He stated in the police report that he was being held by the suspects while they were trying to make bank transfers.
He confirmed in a video clip of his stories that he lived through moments of tension: “The trauma is complex. Vagabonds armed with machine guns attacked me and demanded 400,000 Brazilian reals, but I believe in the work of the civil police, and I do not lower my head to vagabonds.”
The military police were called after receiving a report about the kidnapping, and sent teams to locate the car mentioned in the alert. The approach was made in Ermelino Matarazzo, in the eastern region of São Paulo. There were five people in the car: four suspects and the influencer who told police he had been the victim of extortion.
During the operation, a second car left the scene and officers chased it. The car fell into a stream with two passengers in it. One of them was arrested. The other fired at the police, who returned fire. He was injured and later died in hospital. The incident was registered at Police District No. 63, Villa Jaqui, as extortion.
