Alberto Cilione leaves his position as Director of Education in the Province of Buenos Aires

The Buenos Aires provincial government announced this morning that there will be a change in the regime General Directorate of Culture and Education. Alberto Cellione, its general director until today, will be replaced by teacher and current president of the National University of General Sarmiento (UNGS) Flavia Terighi, who has already requested a leave of absence to serve on the executive body.

The administration headed by Axel Kiselov explained, in an official statement, that Cellione is leaving his position “for personal reasons.”

Cellione has long been associated with educational policy. He was Minister of Education of the Nation in the government of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Minister of Education of the City of Buenos Aires under Jorge Tillerman.

According to the statement issued by the Province of Buenos Aires, Cellione thanked the governor for “the opportunity and honor he has given me to be at the head of the educational system in Buenos Aires, as well as the decision to place education at the center of its government administration.”

The former director concluded, according to the same statement: “We are very proud of the people who make up our educational system: students, teachers, assistants, collaborators, officials, union organizations and families.”

In addition, Cellione confirmed that he will continue to accompany Governor Aksel Kiselov from other places.

On Wednesday the 26th of this month, Axel Kiselov will send the document to the Buenos Aires legislature appointing Flavia Terregui as General Director of Culture and Education.

Tereje is a Professor of Education (University of Buenos Aires), Master of Social Sciences (FLACSO), Doctor of Psychology (Autonomous University of Madrid), and Primary Education Teacher (Escuela Normal Superior No. 10 of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires).

Rector of the General Sarmiento National University since August 2022, she is also a regular professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires. He is a member of the National Council on Quality Education, a body established by the National Education Law (Act 26206), as a representative of the academic field.
