The second day of the National Tertiary Examinations (Enem) will be held on Sunday, November 16, and the countdown has already begun. It is natural during this period that anxiety increases among candidates, especially in light of the pressure to achieve good results and expectations regarding their academic future.
According to psychologist Vladimir Rodriguez, coordinator of the psychology course at Centro Universitário Uniceplac, feeling anxious is common, but it is possible to control this feeling with some simple situations.
“Instead of trying to learn new content, the ideal solution is to review key points and solve questions from previous tests. This reinforces learning and brings more confidence,” advises the teacher.
In the days before the exam, rest and a balanced diet are great allies. Sleeping well and maintaining a healthy routine helps maintain focus and reduce stress.
“Breathing and relaxation exercises also make a difference. Techniques such as deep breathing or meditation help calm the mind and maintain focus,” explains Vladimir.
Another important point is to avoid excessive digital stimuli. “Limiting social media use helps reduce comparisons and distractions. Focus on what depends on you and what you can control,” the psychologist recommends.
On the test day
The key tip is to avoid reviewing content at the last minute. “Trying to remember everything just minutes ago adds stress. It is better to trust what has already been studied and arrive at the site early to avoid unexpected events,” stresses the teacher.
Before starting the test, you are suggested to take some deep breaths to relieve stress and organize your thoughts.
During the exam, the key is to manage your time well. “Read the questions calmly, maintain a steady pace and avoid thinking about the result while answering. These strategies help you face the enemy with more calm and confidence,” Vladimir muses.
Enem as a gateway to higher education
Enem is the main access route to graduation in Brazil, allowing you to compete for university places, funding and scholarships.
In the Federal District, the Uniceplac University Center accepts the Enem degree as a direct form of entry, without the need for an entrance examination or other selection processes.
Depending on the result, the candidate can get discounts of up to 100% throughout the course. There are more than 20 courses available, including dentistry, law, nutrition, nursing and psychology.
Student Fernando Reyes (image), for example, used his Enem degree to enroll in software engineering at Uniceplac.
“With the exam result, I was able to register directly at the university center, without having to take the entrance exam. This made the process much easier, and made everything faster and easier for me,” says the student, who is in his third semester.
Uniceplac also participates in the University Program for All (Prouni), an initiative of the Ministry of Education (MEC) that offers full (100%) and partial (50%) scholarships at private institutions.
To register, a candidate must score at least a 450-point average on the Enem tests and not fail the essay, among other requirements. The rankings are based on exam results from the two most recent editions.
Furthermore, Enem can be used for Student Finance Fund (FIES), an MEC program that allows you to finance tuition fees at private colleges.
