Retired judge Sebastião Coelho used his social media profile, on Monday (24/11), to provoke the head of the Brazilian army, Tomás Miguel Meñe Paiva (Featured image). The former judge says in the post that the soldier remains “silent and with his head down” in the face of the arrest of former President Bolsonaro (PL) in the Federal Police.
Coelho, an ally of Jair Bolsonaro, said: “How long will we remain silent, when we see an army captain detained by the federal police, when he should be imprisoned in a Brazilian army unit. The army captain is silent, with his head down.”
This is Sebastião’s second post criticizing Tomás Miguel in less than two days. On Saturday (11/22), hours after Bolsonaro’s arrest, Coelho addressed the officer directly and asked him if he would remain inactive. He added: “I want to know whether you will organize a public demonstration or remain in your complicit silence with Alexandre de Moraes.”

The former judge, on his Instagram page, also called on his followers to go on a general strike. He says in the video that this is the “remaining path.”
He declared, “We have done everything we can so far, without any results. What is the goal? Amnesty. A broad, general and unrestricted amnesty for everyone on January 8 and for President Bolsonaro, who represents everyone. Who benefits from this strike? The National Congress, which supports the Brazilian people.”
According to Coelho, all services must join the strike, except for firefighters, hospitals and ambulances: “For the rest, everything can stop. You will ask me: Will it be a comprehensive national strike?” At first, barely. The strike must be sector-wise. Anyone who is a leader in a sector calls a strike in his sector. And from there others come to add, to add.”
“reaction to altitude”
On Saturday (11/22), hours after Bolsonaro’s arrest, the retired judge also used the networks to call on the former president’s supporters for a “worthy reaction.”
The judge also classified the arrest order as “religious fanaticism and abuse of power.”
“So, Brazilians, the time has come. We have nothing to wait for. This is our moment to react. Let us speak out, express ourselves and let us have a peaceful, but strong reaction in light of this arbitrary act being committed,” the retired judge said.
the prison
Bolsonaro was arrested by the Federal Police (PF) in Brasilia (DF) on the order of Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
An arrest request was submitted to Moraes by the National Front. The company claimed that the former president was at risk of fleeing during the vigil called by Senator Flavio Bolsonaro in front of his father’s condominium.
In the decision authorizing the arrest, Moraes also stated that Bolsonaro violated his electronic ankle bracelet around midnight Saturday, according to probation.
“The Integrated Surveillance Integration Center of the Federal District reported to this Supreme Court that there had been a violation of the electronic surveillance equipment of the defendant Jair Mesías Bolsonaro, at 0:08 a.m. on 11/22/2025. The information confirms the intention of the convicted man to break the electronic ankle bracelet to ensure the success of his escape, facilitated by the confusion caused by the demonstration called by his son,” Moraes said.
