The Regional Electoral Tribunal of Rio de Janeiro (TRE-RJ) on Monday (24) allowed the use of 22 electronic voting machines in the presidential elections in Fluminense. The elections will take place next Saturday (29), from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Salão Nobre das Laranjeiras. Of this total, 17 ballot boxes will be used in the elections. The other five will remain in reserve.
Fluminense reached an agreement with TRE-RJ after a meeting between the club’s vice president for legal interests, Heraldo Iones, and TRE-RJ’s president, Peterson Barroso. Therefore, it was also decided to provide three ballot boxes containing ballot papers for other purposes during voting.
According to planning, one of the ballot boxes will be placed in the stadium for people with limited mobility. After all, the idea is to provide an exclusive and barrier-free space. The other two will be located in the main hall. Therefore, it will be available to anyone who settles the situation on Election Day or to whoever votes through a court order.
Moreover, it was also decided that the public prosecutor would prosecute the case. The elections will determine the president of Fluminense for the next three years from 2026 to 2028. Thus, two candidates are competing for the position: Mateus Montenegro, the club’s current vice president, and Adhemar Aris, the opposition candidate.
