The accounts of Spain’s largest cancer investigation center will be investigated by the anti-corruption inspectorate, according to financial sources. The authority will open investigations into alleged violations in contracts at the National Center for Oncology Research (CNIO), as previously announced. ABC EL PAÍS has confirmed.
The organization’s former director, Juan Arroyo, and other employees weigh in on accusations that a supposed contract conspiracy was directed, amplified and awarded to friendly companies, according to a complaint filed by a former CNIO director who was fired. According to this executive’s calculations, about 20 million euros could be withdrawn from the CNIO’s public treasury within a decade.
