Atletico captain, Junior Alonso, spoke about the altercation between fans and defender Lianco in the South American final, in Asuncion, Paraguay. After the draw with Flamengo, at the Arena MRF, in the Brazilian championship, the player apologized to the fans for the brawl in which Lianco was involved during the match against Lanus.

Alonso said: “I saw what happened. I knew nothing about it. I only watched the videos yesterday. It was a moment when everyone was nervous. The players and the fans too. We know that at this moment we cannot fight with the fans. It’s about respecting the moment, we know. We apologise.”

He concluded: “I apologize here to my teammates and the fans for everything that happened. It was not supposed to happen, because the players should have been somewhere else, but that is a separate point. The most important thing is to be men who accept when we make mistakes and apologize when something like this happens.”

What happened?

In the South American final, a fan criticized striker Bale in front of the Gallo delegation, which was in one of the stands at the stadium in Asuncion. Enraged, the players then went to attack the athlete.

In fact, the Lyanco defender was excited and had to be restrained by the security guard. “Where is he? Who was talking here? Who was talking? You son of a bitch. Take it easy, boy,” Lianko said while searching for the athlete. In addition to the defender, Coelho and Joao Marcelo were among the most praised players.
