The new Jeep Cherokee is one of the attractions for the American automaker at the Sao Paulo Motor Show. Introduced in August in the United States, the new generation medium SUV is in the study phase for the Brazilian market and could return after a 10-year hiatus in a full hybrid version. A source from the American brand revealed that Jeep is evaluating the public’s acceptance of it during the event in the capital, Sao Paulo.

The new Jeep Cherokee Hybrid gets nearly 18 km/l

The sixth-generation Jeep Cherokee uses the STLA Large modular platform, the same as the new Dodge Charger and Jeep Wagoner S, which includes the use of combustion engines, hybrids at various levels, and battery electric vehicle (BEV). Most notable is the full hybrid package, which consists of a 1.6 turbo petrol engine with 179 PS and 300 Nm.

Visual is like a new compass

The new model’s headlights feature a more rectangular shape and LED lights with a rounded visual signature inside. Visually, there are elements that are also reminiscent of the new generation Jeep Compass, which was recently introduced in Europe.

In some versions, the body will have the option of two-tone paint, with the roof in black. At the back, LED lights invade the trunk lid, which also houses the license plate.

The interior of the new Jeep Cherokee contains two prominent screens

Inside, the new Jeep Cherokee is finished with rubberized materials on the console, doors and dashboard. There are also metal and leather details. The highlight of the car is the 12.5-inch multimedia center with Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay and a 10-inch digital dashboard.

The steering wheel has a less rounded shape and the trunk holds up to 992 litres. Among the available equipment are front seats with ventilation and heating, a heated rear seat, a panoramic sunroof, Alpine audio, integrated Alexa and the full ADAS package, including adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.

Production in Mexico could make the Jeep Cherokee viable in Brazil

The new Jeep Cherokee will arrive in the United States at the end of 2025 in Limited and Overland versions, which will have the same hybrid powertrain. The starting price is US$36,995 (about R$197,000 in direct conversion). Unlike the old generation, which was produced in the United States of America, the new Jeep Cherokee will be produced in Mexico.

With this, the SUV can return to Brazil at a more competitive price, as the model will be exempt from import tax. The Cherokee was discontinued in the Brazilian market in 2015. In the Brazilian market, it will be positioned above the Jeep Commander and below the Grand Cherokee 4xe.
