The repercussions of the arrest of the coup leader on the networks

The digital repercussions of the arrest of the coup leader were surprising, according to an unprecedented survey conducted by Nexus. Despite the political turmoil since the execution of Jair Bolsonaro and six others convicted by the STF, no term related to the case has reached the top of trending topics on X in the past 24 hours.

What appeared most frequently was the term “dictatorship never again,” driven by left-wing extremism, in sixteenth place, with 177,000 mentions. The word “Heleno” – a reference to the convicted general – remained in 29th place, even with 570,000 citations.

On X, Nexus identified 758,000 posts on this topic between Tuesday and Wednesday morning, for a total of 51 million impressions. This is a figure 80% lower than the impact of Bolsonaro’s preventive arrest on Saturday, which reached 251 million impressions in the same period.

On the Google search engine, Al-Sabah also recorded a significant increase: “General Augusto Heleno” reached tenth place in searches, with more than 20,000 searches and an increase of 1,000%. The movie “Anderson Torres” came in 14th place with more than 20,000 searches as well.

In Meta networks, the highest participation was with right-wing politicians – including Eduardo, Carlos and Flavio Bolsonaro, as well as MPs Nicolas Ferreira and Pia Cases. On the left, the most prominent were Senator Humberto Costa, Porto Alegre Councilor Roberto Robina and Representative Samia Bomfim.
