A video posted by Police Chief Leandro Sperandio has gone viral on social media due to the unusual confession of a man who was arrested for robbing a lottery store. In the report, the thief says that he committed the crime after learning all the methods available on social media.
The 48-year-old was arrested nine days after the crime in Serra (Spain). He admitted that he broke into a lottery vault in Praia Grande, Fundão, on September 15, hoping to get money to pay off a debt with a moneylender who had threatened to kill him.
During confession, something caught my attention. The prisoner told Sperandio that he designed the entire system to break the wall, break into the safe and erase the security system “just” by watching tutorials on the Internet. “Even on TikTok, there are people who know how to break into a safe,” the suspect said. “It’s all on YouTube!”
The man also provided details of the criminal act. He added: “I inserted a screwdriver into the cabinet and the lid came off. It was so quick, I was even surprised; it’s all on YouTube.”
The police chief says the prisoner had no wrongdoing and the man replies that he was forced to commit the crime. “The lender was going to kill the girl and he was going to kill me. He said: ‘Find a way, brother.’ Then something happened about guys robbing lottery shops and then I said: ‘It should be easy.'”
In total, R$18,500 was taken from the lottery coffers. The man allegedly allocated around R$14,000 to the lender and spent the rest of the money. “I spent it on cachaca, nightclubs and motels.”
