After São Paulo City Hall issued a statement about vetoing Kanye West’s November 29 concert at Interlagos Racetrack, São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB) announced on Monday afternoon that no one who supports Nazism will play or sing “not a single word” in public equipment at City Hall.

— In the public facilities of City Hall, no one who supports Nazism will play or sing a single word. We do not accept that and we will do everything necessary and necessary so as not to allow anyone who supports Nazism to engage in any kind of activity here in the city of São Paulo – declared the mayor of the city.
The city municipality had previously justified in a statement that the decision was taken because it did not accept the discriminatory positions of the rapper, who gathers controversy and debates and who recently and proudly declared that he is a “racist, Nazi, and anti-obesity” man. This year, he released a song called “Heil Hitler,” which was banned from platforms like YouTube and Spotify.
“The current administration does not condone any criminal behavior supporting Nazism and/or racism and, therefore, will not allow events to be held to this effect in municipal facilities,” the city hall highlighted, in a memo. In the same statement, management says they had not been informed by producer Ye in Brazil – responsible for the US presentation – about which artist would be hired for the event at the time the company requested use of the space.

On the other hand, the producer claims that she was surprised by the veto and confirms that the offer is still confirmed. In fact, tickets are still on sale normally via the website, with ticket prices starting at R$600.
The producer complains: “The show was scheduled at the Interlagos Racetrack, with an official reservation, payment and full compliance with all legal and administrative requirements. However, we were surprised by the unilateral cancellation of the terms of the waiver of use of the space, which was sent via email on 08/10/2025, by the racetrack management.”
The company adds that it is “in direct contact with Autodromo management and is working to clarify the situation and resolve it in the best possible way.” Soon, new information will be released by the producer, who is committed to presenting the show – so far, more than 30,000 people have already purchased tickets.
In an interview with “Folha de S. Paulo”, Guilherme Cavalcante, one of the partners of the event, stated that he had already paid the fee of 5 million US dollars (equivalent to about 27 million Brazilian reals) requested by the rapper. “A very high fee has been paid. There is no way to cancel the offer. It has to happen. But it also cannot be done anywhere,” he stressed.
