A 37-year-old woman went into labor and gave birth on the sidewalk, in the early hours of Tuesday (25/11), in front of a pharmacy in the Bella Vista neighborhood, in Salto, within the city of São Paulo. I actually felt strong contractions, lay down on the floor and went into labor there. Another woman who was passing by in the street was helping the pregnant woman until help arrived.
The pictures show the woman clearly weak, as she tries to lean against the wall before getting down to the sidewalk. Seconds later, she lay on the floor, overcome by powerful contractions. You can see her in the video, writhing in pain as she tries to begin childbirth on her own. A few minutes later, another woman passing by in the street noticed the state of despair, so she quickly approached and tried to help. The woman then tries to help the pregnant woman until help arrives.
According to Salto City Hall, the birth occurred around 00:20. Shortly after the birth, the fire department was called and took the mother and son to the local Nossa Senhora do Monte Cerat hospital.

According to the hospital, the woman was taking psychoactive substances and had only received four prenatal consultations. She was treated and examined and is still in the hospital, and her condition is stable. The newborn, a boy, is still in the hospital and is in stable condition and receiving all the necessary care.
The municipal administration also reported that social services were called to monitor the situation and provide support to the mother and child.
