Readers’ comments on income tax exemption up to R$ 5,000 and friction between the authorities – 11/26/2025 – Readers Panel

Up to R$5,000
“Lula approves the exemption from income tax in a ceremony marked by the absence of Motta and Alcombre” (Mercado, 11/26). The great President Lula, the only person who had the courage to pass a law that included the majority of Brazilian workers.

Rubens Moreira da Costa Junior (Sao Paulo, SP)

(“Sanctions should not be imposed on Mota and Alcolumbre by the Islamic Revolution amid the crisis with Lula’s government,” Brasília Hugue, 26/11). It is clear that the latest Speakers of the House and Senate want to assume the role of president of the country without being elected to do so. Every day Parliament embarrasses us more. Blackmail for advantages is the last thing you expect from a leader. What a shame!

Sonia Lucia Lucina Souza de Andrade (Recife, PE)

Are they fighting among themselves and the people pay the bill? Who do you legislate for?

Diva nigri (Florianopolis, South Carolina)

Scale 6 x 1
“Lula offers reduced working hours and exemption from PLR” (Mercado, 11/26). It would be great to see the self-styled anti-system right defending the system again by standing against the 6 x 1 end of the scale. Felipe Macedo (Sao Joao del Rey, MG)

Brazil is heading towards failure, but it wants to stop working so hard before it gets rich. The lack of evidence is impressive! We will see companies leaving the country.

Willians Cesar Turco (Sao Paulo, SP)

From 2026
“Anvisa approves Butantan vaccine against dengue” (Health, 11/26). Congratulations to the scientists!

Leah good (Campinas, SP)

Perhaps this is the only good news in this country that suffers from mismanagement. There is no credit from the current government, only from the Butantan Institute. Congratulations!

Alexandra Cristina Bobbio (Sao Paulo, SP)

So ready! Long live Suss!

Monica de Freitas (Sao Paulo, SP)

Private retirement
“Senate approves billion-dollar bombshell agenda after nominating Lula Christ to STF membership” (Mercado, 11/25). It’s not a bomb. Health workers deserve it. May the government come to the rescue on other fronts!

Fernando Jorge (Sao Paulo, SP)

Are you complaining about mismanagement that creates taxes? They spend billions and do not provide people with proper health and safety.

Edmundo Alvarez (Goiania, GO)

Our actors are spoiled children, now grown up, thinking of continuing to play on the field.

Reynaldo Souza Coelho (Rio de Janeiro, Royal Jordanian)

Self defense
“Castro allows pepper spray to be sold to women in pharmacies in Royal Jordanian” (Qutidiano, 11/26). Zero projects to end violence. Brazil: Easy solutions to complex problems. If you forget to spray at home and are exposed to violence, it will be the fault of the victim who was not prepared for the attack. From the same origin as “Do not walk alone” or “Do not wear short clothes.” And the violence is only increasing.

Angelica Bodendorfer (Curitiba, PR)

The position of the ruler who thinks about protecting the population, especially women, most affected by insecurity. Is there a danger that the officer would respond and shoot the woman, as one commentator said? naturally! But the danger has been there ever since we left home.

Antonio Iver Aris (Brasilia, DF)

“Panda Diplomacy”
“France bids farewell to famous panda couple returning to China; Beijing promises ‘replacement’” (The World, 11/25). The objectification of animals is disgusting. Sick pleasure enjoying seeing them imprisoned.

Paula Brugger (Florianopolis, South Carolina)

I’ve always found the use of pandas in diplomacy to be quite controversial. Cuties deserve to live in their natural environment.

Joaquim Rosa (Sao Jose dos Campos, SP)

Folha, 105
“Folha is about to turn 105, changes its editorial board” (Politics, 24/11). The newspaper’s board of directors and editorial direction are moving to the right. No news.

Roberto Nascimento Anastasio (Santo Andre, SP)

Most are left-wing, but all are cultured, informed and intelligent. Congratulations!

Florentino Fernandez Junior (Belo Horizonte, MG)
